“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is the best wine I have tasted yet from Somnium. Ample and resonant in feel, the 2019 packs serious punch in both its fruit and tannin presence. Plum, leather, grilled herbs, tobacco, chocolate and savory herbs all open with a bit of air. The 2019 is quite potent and savory, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced.”

“Somnium's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is even more exciting than the 2018, as the fruit speaks louder. Vibrant blackberries lead the way, ripe yet dark and tannic. Like the 2018, it's concentrated and rich, even a touch chewy, but it also delivers ample freshness and fruit on the long finish.”

Vintage:   The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season, not without its moments of unpredictability, helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with abundant hang time teasing out great color, structure and soft tannins. Volume is looking to be about average to a little less than average. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture promises an amazing vintage.
